چکیده

We demonstrate that in the presence of mixing between different scalar leptoquark multiplets it is possible to simultaneously account for the HERA high-Q2 neutral current anomaly, and produce a charged current anomaly of comparable magnitude. The reduced branching ratio to electrons and jets of the lightest leptoquark state results in a significant weakening of the CDF/D0 limits on scalar leptoquarks; masses consistent with the HERA neutral current excess are comfortably within the allowed range. We show that the possibilities for such a successful mixed leptoquark scenario are quite limited, and we investigate some aspects of their phenomenology. Modified parton distributions and the HERA high-Q anomaly

A recent proposal seeks to explain the anomaly in the HERA high-Q2 neutral current e+p data by modifying the parton distribution functions at moderate-to-high-x and large Q2. We investigate the consequences of this proposal for the HERA high-Q2 data itself, in the neutral current ep channel and especially in the charged current ep channels. We find that there are striking signatures in the char...

HERA Anomaly and Hard Charm in the Nucleon

We explore the possibility that the excess neutral and charged current events seen by the H1 and ZEUS Collaborations at HERA at large x and Q2 could arise from a hard charm component of the nucleon. While the symmetric intrinsic charm hypothesis is unable to account for the HERA anomaly, a non-symmetric charm distribution generated non-perturbatively, for which c is much harder than c, can prod...

Q-Anomaly at HERA and Supersymmetry

We discuss the recently observed excess of high Q2 neutral current deep inelastic scattering events at HERA in the light of supersymmetry with broken R-parity. We find more than one possible solution. We consider the possibilities for testing these hypotheses at HERA, the TEVATRON and at LEP. One lepton-number violating operator can account for both the HERA data and the four-jet anomaly seen b...

Supersymmetry and Charged Current Events at HERA

A light stop, with an R-parity-violating coupling λ131, has been suggested as an explanation of the excess in high-Q neutral current events observed at the HERA collider. We show that in this scheme a corresponding excess in charged current events — such as that reported by the H1 Collaboration — can appear naturally, without calling for the presence of light sleptons or additional R-parity-vio...

What if Charged Current Events at Large Q 2 are Observed at HERA ?

An excess of events at large Q 2 with a positron in the final state has been observed at HERA which, if confirmed, would be a signal of new physics. It is not clear at present if a signal of comparable rate is also seen in the charged current channel (with an antineutrino in the final state). In this note we analyse the implications of the presence of such a signal in models of new physics base...
